Dr. Stephanie Florio

Stephanie Florio Ph.D Director of Preclinical Studies

Dr. Florio has over 15 years of industry experience in drug discovery and preclinical research in multiple therapeutic areas including nervous system disorders.  Dr. Florio received her Ph.D. from the University of Washington Department of Pharmacology studying the biochemical pathways of the rod and cone cells – the highly specialized neurons that detect light and images coming into the eye.  She started her biopharmaceutical career developing assays for high throughput screening at Panlabs (now part of Eurofins Panlabs) then moved to ICOS, working closely with Dr. Lai to identify new targets for drug development.  As a member of Dr. Lai’s protein targeting group, she focused on the very novel approach of developing molecules that block protein-protein and protein-DNA complexes important in neurological and infectious diseases.   After ICOS, she moved to Amgen where she was responsible for developing training for the research staff in small and large molecule drug development, pharmacokinetics and inflammation. Prior to joining Anagin, she was a Sr. Scientist at the Infectious Disease Research Institute focused on identifying new targets and drugs to treat the global pathogen, Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
